The Newsroom

Where to watch →“The Newsroom delivers a high-octane, idealistic, and often maddening look at the cutthroat world of cable news, where integrity battles cynicism nightly.”
Aaron Sorkin walks into a cable newsroom and monologues for four seasons. Jeff Daniels plays the anchor who Has Had It, MacKenzie produces, and they relitigate real news stories two years after they happened with the benefit of hindsight.
Peak Sorkin: smug, walk-and-talky, and weirdly addictive. The "America is not the greatest country" opening monologue went viral for a reason; the rest of the show alternates between thrilling and insufferable, sometimes in the same scene. The romantic plots haven't aged well. The newsroom plots still slap. A guilty pleasure with a thesaurus.
